The dashboard explores how Nordic CNECs (Critical Network Elements and Contingencies) drive price differences between bidding zones. Select a reference area and a comparison area. The reference price (EUR/MWh) is fetched from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, while the comparison price is derived from the shadow prices and PTDF factors of the currently binding CNECs.

The table lists all binding CNECs for the selected 15-minute interval. Check the box to the left of any row to see full CNEC details in the right-hand panel. The bar chart shows each CNEC’s individual contribution to the price difference: blue bars indicate a positive contribution (price increases from reference to comparison zone), red bars indicate a negative one.

The price difference calculator works within the synchronous area of the Nordic. Hence DK1 is excluded from the calculator (all PTDF with respect to non-DK1 CNECs are zero). Also note that “virtual hubs” (HVDC landing sites) within the synchronous area are included in the “Comparison” drop-down. These zones does not have an official price, but nevertheless a nodal price can be calculated for these based on their PTDFs.
