Flowbased price difference calculator

The dashboard explores how Nordic CNECs (Critical Network Elements and Contingencies) drive price differences between bidding zones. Select a reference area and a comparison area. The reference price (EUR/MWh) is fetched from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, while the comparison price is derived from the shadow prices and PTDF factors of the currently binding CNECs.

The table lists all binding CNECs for the selected 15-minute interval. Check the box to the left of any row to see full CNEC details in the right-hand panel. The bar chart shows each CNEC’s individual contribution to the price difference: blue bars indicate a positive contribution (price increases from reference to comparison zone), red bars indicate a negative one.

Note! The calculator does not handle virtual zones (around HVDC landing positions) very well. There may be allocation constraints that are binding but have no PTDFs outside the zone. And hence is not “seen” by other zones. DK1_SB (“Stora Bält”) is such a zone.
